FCP continues to expand

Hawah at the 2018 Financial Capability Conference in Athi River, Kenya

With our financial capability programme (FCP), Maryosa aims to promote essential financial skills among young adults. This includes, for example, getting insight into your income and expenses, making and maintaining a budget, and saving for emergencies or future plans.

The skills that were taught in 2017 and 2018 are now being passed on to a next generation. In various parts of Kenya, including near Lake Victoria in the west, and around Mombasa at the east coast, small groups emerged of young adults who motivate and help each other with respect to financial skills. These groups are being led by the participants in our 2018 training camp. One of them, Hawah, is passing around questionnaires at her university to promote awareness of financial management skills. She then invites them to the group she coaches herself.
